Abstract

1,192,520. Hexahydrobenzo-[a]-quinolizine derivatives. MILES LABORATORIES Inc. 2 July, 1968 [3 July, 1967], No. 31491/68. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R, R<SP>1</SP> are each H, OH or O-alkyl; R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> are each H, alkyl or aryl; R<SP>3</SP> is H, aryl or aralkyl; R<SP>4</SP> is H (except when R<SP>3</SP> is H), alkanoyl, propargyl, CH 2 CH 2 NHC(:NH)NH 2 , C( :NH)NH 2 or CH 2 CH 2 C(:NOH)NH 2 ; and their pharmacologically acceptable salts. These compounds are prepared by reacting the corresponding 2-oxo precursor with R<SP>3</SP>NH 2 , hydrogenating the Schiff Base to give the above compound where R<SP>4</SP> = H, and optionally reacting the latter with R<SP>4</SP>X(R<SP>4</SP>#H) or the appropriate alkanoic anhydride. Therapeutic compositions for oral or subcutaneous administration comprise the above compounds, which are antihypertensive agents, together with the usual fillers, carriers, extenders and/or excipients.
