Abstract

1,191,914. Mangle feed apparatus. E. & E. PETERS G.m.b.H. 10 Nov., 1967 [10 Nov., 1966], No. 51344/67. Heading D1A. Clothing feed apparatus for a mangle comprises clothing support means 116, which extend transversely of continuously driven belts 111 and are reciprocable in the direction of movement of belts 111 to deposit clothing articles on the belts 111, feed means e.g. conveyer belts 110 associated with support means 116 being driven intermittently at a speed higher than belts 111. Adjacent conveyer belts 110 which are driven independently of the mangle, is a roller 99 which, as well as belts 111 and further adjustable belts 112, 113, is driven by the mangle drive, belts 112, 113 being driven faster than belts 111 but slower than the mangle. Light gates F01, F02 each comprising a light source and photocell are disposed respectively below roller 99 and belts 110, and between belts 110 and 111. Horse 116 comprises arms 116a with a relatively non-slip covering 117 and at their ends one or more guide rollers 116c running on an adjustable guide or guide's 120 so that as horse 116 moves leftwards towards belts 111. At the ends of a pressing roller 104 are guide rollers 104a which run on guides 121 and each end of its spindle is carried in a stirrup pivoted to part 116b of horse 116 so that horse 116 and rollers 104 are reciprocated together, e.g. by an hydraulic ram. Scraper belts 118 run round roller 104 and another roller or wheels 60. In front of belts 111 are brush belts 130, a vertically adjustable idler roller 130a and a pivoted bow 133 which together stretch the clothing articles transversely. In operation, when the mangle is switched on and belt system 111 to 113 and roller 99 are driven and control elements become active, an article is placed on horse 116 and its rear part will interrupt light barrier F01. When horse 116 and roller 104 are moved to the left, Fig. 2, to drop the front of the article on belts 111, belts 110 are started when horse 116 reaches its leftward limit. Horse 116 and roller 104 return to their initial position, guides 120 being raised to hold the horse clear of the belts. The rear of the article passes rapidly over belts 110 into gate F02, the drive to belts 110 being discontinued, after a delay, when gate F01 is cleared. A second article is then placed on horse 116 and its rear part interrupts gate F01 so that the front part is deposited on top of the first article on belts 111. Belts 110 do not start until after an interval after the first article has cleared gate F02. When double articles with facings and the like are to be introduced to the mangle, a special control producing a brief stoppage of belts 110 is brought into action to allow time for adjustment. Horse 116 may be hinged out of operation.
