Abstract

1,191,853. Mixing animal feeds. AUTOMATED FEED MILLS Ltd. 5 Sept., 1967 [6 Sept., 1966], No. 39663/66. Heading A2B. [Also in Division B1] In a disintegrating and mixing plant especially for animal feeding stuffs grain is metered from silos (21) by screw conveyers (23, 24, 32, 35) to hammer mills (34), whence the meal is pneumatically conveyed to cyclones (38) and falls into mixers (60). Other additives are metered from bins (56) to the mixers (60) by screw conveyers (57, 58, 59). The mixed materials are then fed by screw conveyers (65, 67) to mixed meal or pellet plant. The plant is controlled by sequential and/or time control means (not described) to operate automatically in accordance with a desired programme (three are described), the several devices being interlocked so that failure of any one, or insufficiency of material, arrests the plant and initiates an alarm signal. Means may be incorporated to reduce the rate of feed to the disintegrators if they or their driving means become over loaded.
