[Also in Division G1] The rate of flow of air from a pressure source 31 through the wrapping of a cigarette 32 is measured by a flowmeter 1 comprising a constriction formed by a spring blade which is deflected by the pressure difference across the constriction to vary the frequency of an oscillator. Faulty wrapping and cigarette produces an excessive flow of air, sensed by the flow-meter 1.
