[Also in Division G3] An automatic tool changing arrangement for material washing machines, comprises a tool magazine synchronized with a magnetic drum store, a chosen tool being replaced in the magazine by the tool being returned to the magazine and the drum store updated. As shown, a magnetic drum store 5 is rotated in synchronism with a tool magazine 1 through a mechanical gearing, an electric shaft or an electric positional control 3. The drum store has tracks a-d of which a has magnetic marks controlling the reading operation and tracks b-d contain the code designation of the corresponding tool in the magazine. An amplifying and evaluating device 8 gives the magazine the order to issue a tool and when it has been extracted from the magazine its code designation is erased from the drum store and transferred to a shift register 11. The tool, previously used in the machine, the code designation of which has been stored in the shift register 11, is returned to the magazine at the vacated location and its code designation written in to the vacated place on the drum store. The magnetic marks are read and produced by Hall generators employed in combined reading and writing heads 7.
