Abstract

1,190,034. Current-collectors for dynamoelectric machines; rotary couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 25 Aug., 1967 [29 Aug., 1966], No. 39253/67. Headings H2A and H2E. Liquid metal is fed to and withdrawn from a current-collector, e.g. of a dynamo-electric machine, by means of tangential ports 30, 32 lying in a circumferential channel 22 and arranged so that rotation of the inner member 12 of the collector induces a circulation of the liquid metal through the gap and the interconnecting tubes, whichever way the rotor turns. The liquid is pressurized by means of a gas head in reservoir 40 and preferably circulates through cooler (not shown).
