Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A laminated article is made by superimposing and pressing together a plurality of layers, each layer comprising a reinforcing material which has been impregnated with an organic solvent solution of an organopolysiloxane resin having from 0À1 to 1À85 organic radicals per silicon atom, the said solution containing a finely divided inorganic filler material, the assembly thereafter being maintained under pressure and at an elevated temperature to cure the resin Specified reinforcing materials are glass cloth, asbestos cloth, asbestos paper and woven or non-woven synthetic fibrous materials, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate. Specified organic radicals are methyl, ethyl, propyl, vinyl, allyl, phenyl and naphthyl radicals and halogenated derivatives thereof. Specified fillers are titanium dioxide, aluminium oxide, zinc oxide, kaolin, metal silicates, calcium carbonate, fullers earth and silica. Siloxane curing agents, e.g. carboxylic acid salts of organic amines and flotation acids, e.g. amine modified clay may be included in the impregnant.
