Abstract

1,188,901. Electro-photographic apparatus. VARIAN ASSOCIATES. Feb.7, 1968[Feb.1O, 19671, No. 6093/68. Addition to 1,160, 818. Heading G2H. In an electro-photographic apparatus, the photon image is projected on to a photo-conductive plate 5, and the image transferred to an electro-graphic recording web 24 which is brought into contact with the plate 5 by partial vacuum means. As shown in Fig.1, a lever 22 is pivoted causing a conductive plate 17 to seal a portion of the web 24 against O-ring 14 surrounding flange 9. Air is then drawn by pump 12 from the space between the web 24 and plate 5 causing the web to closely contact the plate surface. After exposure, the pump is reversed, thus blowing the web away from the plate 5, to facilitate its removal without damaging the plate 5.
