In a vehicle window in which the pane 8 is secured in the metal body rebate surrounding a window aperture by an adhesive plastic neoprene-type mass 10 compressed between the pane and rebate, the edge portion of the pane is enclosed in a trim strip of extruded resilient P.V.C. or the like, the strip being of generally H-section the inner channel, accommodating the edge of the pane, and having its front limb 2a to lie against the pane and its rear limb 2b being shorter than the front limb and is pressed between the pane and rebate and preferably into the plastic mass 10 (before this mass finally cures) for which purpose it is chamfered as shown, the rear limb 3b of the outer channel being so dimensioned as to be compressed within the rebate, and the front limb 3a of the outer channel being deeper than the rear limb 3b and resiliently presses against the shoulder of the rebate. A tool for applying the strip to the rebate and around the edge of the pane comprises a handle 12, carying a roller 13 adapted to engage the front face of the strip at about the level of web 4, and a pressure plate 15 projecting towards the rebate and extends, with the roller against the strip, under the flexed limb 3a to engage the limb 3b to press this latter limb against the rebate. The neoprene-type mass 10 may be cured by a lowvoltage current through the wire 11 embedded therein.
