Abstract
1,188,225. Delivering cigarettes in orderly arrangement. TABAK-UND INDUSTRIEMASCHINEN DRESDEN, VEB. 15 Aug., 1968. No. 38991/68. Heading A2C. Cigarettes 17, issuing in a flow 5 from a continuous rod cut-off are accelerated by rollers 3 and fed into grooves 2 of a rotating transverse conveyer drum 1 while being deflected in the direction of rotation of the drum 1 by a cam roller 7, the roller 7 comprising a cylindrical base 8 carrying one or more (two as shown) cam plates 10 extending over its entire length each having a cross-section transverse to the axis of the base 8 in the form of Archimedes spirals and being limited by edges 11 extending helically over the entire length of the base 8. The cigarettes 17 are supported from below during transfer by an horizontal support 13 (Fig. 2) having comb-like prongs 14 that engage in annular grooves 15 in the cam plates 10. Positive guidance of the cigarettes 17 in the horizontal direction is effected either by air jets directed at, and transversely to the axes of, the cigarettes 17 in the region of the support 13, or by the provision of a second cam roller (16) rotating in synchronism in the opposite direction to and mounted parallel to the roller 7, and so spaced therefrom that the oppositely rotating cam surfaces are separated by approximately the diameter of a cigarette.
