Abstract

1,188,178. Smoke detectors. PYRENE CO. Ltd. Dec. 3, 1968 [Dec. 5, 1967], No. 55345/67. Heading G1A. A smoke detector of the type in which in the absence of smoke light from a lamp is obstructed from reaching a photo-cell, and in the presence of smoke light is scattered on to the photo-cell, has its internal casing surfaces coated with dark, preferably black, flock, held in place by an adhesive. The adhesive may also be black or may be colourless if the casing is of black material. The flock may be 1À5 denier rayon chopped into 0À3 mm. lengths and dyed matt black. The construction of the smoke detector, Fig. 2, is such as to allow through-flow of air and provides a barrier 8 between the lamp 7 and the photo-cell 6. Specification 966, 867 is referred to.
