Abstract

1,187,824. Purine nucleotide derivatives. MERCK & CO. Inc. 26 April, 1967 [2 May, 1966], No. 19293/67. Heading C2C. Compounds of the formula where R a and Rb are hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, C 1-5 alkyl, amino, C 1-5 mono- or di-alkylamino, mercapto or C 1-5 alkylthio, are prepared by reacting a compound of formula where R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>11</SP> and R<SP>111</SP> are acyl and X is halogen, with a compound of formula where R c and R d are halogen, hydrogen, hydroxy, C 1-5 alkyl, acylamino, or acyl-(C 1-5 alkyl) amino, in a solvent to form a compound of formula and subjecting the latter (a) to basic solvolysis to produce a compound of Formula I above where R a and R b are other than mercapto or alkylthio; or (b) when R c and/or R d is halogen, to aminolysis to produce a compound where R a and/or R b is amino, or mono- or dialkylamino; or (c) when R c and/or R d is halogen, to mercaptolysis to produce a compound where R a and/or R b is mercapto or alkylthio.
