Abstract

1,187,750. Extensible link band. RODI & WIENENBERGER A.G. 24 March, 1969 [12 Nov., 1968], No. 15277/69. Heading A3H. A resiliently extensible link band, shown in rear view, has two superimposed, offset layers of front and rear links, 1 and 2 respectively, interconnected by brackets 3 having their arms 9 freely pivotable in the front links 1 and similar arms (not shown) pivotable against spring action in the rear links 2, and is characterized in that the front links 1 are appreciably wider in the longitudinal direction of the band than the rear links 2 and have windows 10 so that the opposite gaps (4), Fig. 1 (not shown), left between the rear links when the band is in its contracted position, are exposed for ventilation purposes. In an embodiment the links 1 and 2 are substantially rectangular hollow casings and the bracelets 3 are rectangular loops connected to the front links by rear marginal wall portions which are bent over the bracket arms 9 to form hinge knuckles 8 and which are made shorter than the links 1 in the transverse direction so as to receive the yokes 21. To allow for length adjustment of the band, some of the marginal walls are formed as open hooks 8<SP>1</SP> so that a portion of the band can be added to or removed from the remainder. The bracket arms 9 are held in position in these open hooks by a bent frame, leaf-spring 11 having a window 17 and slid in between the insides of the front link face 5 and the two marginal wall hooks 8<SP>1</SP>. The spring frame may be formed from spring wire and may be bent in the form of an M shape. The front openings 10 are made as wide as possible, the width of the marginal walls 8 or 8<SP>1</SP> being preferably less than that of the front margins 5<SP>1</SP> and the rear links 2 being preferably no wider than the combined widths of two juxtaposed front margins 5<SP>1</SP> The windows 17 in the spring frames 11 are also sufficiently large so as not to restrict the openings 10, which may be divided by bridges 22.
