Abstract
1,187,440. Luminescent materials. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. 12 June, 1967 [10 June, 1966], No. 27047/67. Heading C4S. A luminescent material comprises Biactivated Y, Gd or Lu vanadate. Eu, Dy; Sm or Tm may be substituted for up to 50% of Bi. The material is prepared by firing NH 4 VO 3 , Bi 2 O 3 and Y, Gd or Lu oxide then rinsing in strong hydroxide. The material may be excited by H.P. and L.P. Hg discharges and cathode rays.
