Abstract

1,187,321. Roll holders. HUGH STEVENSON & SONS Ltd. 21 Feb., 1968 [2 March, 1967; 26 July, 1967], Nos. 9907/67 and 34359/67. Heading G. A holder for dispensing a roll of sheet or filamentary material is formed from a cardboard blank scored and cut so as to be foldable into a polygonal tube 1, each of the faces having end flaps 5 with locking tabs 6, with two polygonal end bearing blanks 10 having side flaps and slots 16 at the base of the side flaps inserted into the tube ends so that the side flaps bend outwards and the tube end flaps 5 fold inwards over the side flaps to lock tabs 6 in slots 16, and the roll core 14 being carried in bearing holes 19 in the end blanks. The holder has a dispensing slot 18 and carrying handle 17 inserted in slots 9. The holder is loaded by inserting material through slot 18, fixing it to the core and then rotating the core in a winding machine. Hole 19 may be replaced by a disc entering inside the core end and the slot opened by tearing.
