A glass is composed, in moles per cent, of: SiO2, 50-78; B2O3, 0À5-8; Al2O3, 8-15; Li2O, 12-17; Ga2O3 and/or In2O3 and/or rareearth-metal oxide, 1-5; Ta2O5 and/or Nb2O5, 0-5; As2O3 or other refining agent, 0-0À5. The glass may be used to form glass electrodes for measuring the concentration of alkali metal and/or silver ions.
