A glass electrode comprises an ion-specific membrane of glass containing 5i0 2 , at least one alkali metal oxide, and 0À5-25 mole per cent Ga 2 O 3 , and optionally Al 2 O 3 so that Al 2 0 3 + Ga 2 O 3 # 25 mole per cent. Glass compositions are given for determination of Na and K ions.
