Abstract

1,186,123. Transistor amplifying and switching circuits. BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS Inc. 11 July, 1968 [28 July,1967], No. 33230/68. Heading H3T. [Also in Division Gl] Filter circuit, Fig. 12.-A very low frequency band-pass filter, for use in electromedical apparatus, comprises an active low-pass filter 146 and high-pass filter 148 in front of an operational amplifier 150, and similar filters 152, 154 following. The input low-pass filter provides a 12dB roll-off at 2 Hz and the high-pass filter rolls-off at 0À2 Hz. The output filters are set to slightly wider limits, e.g. 4 Hz and 0À1 Hz to give a pass-band as illustrated in Fig. 14 (not shown). Switching circuit, Fig. 15, has an adjustable switching level according to the value of " bias " resistor R14. With no signal input Q 3 is OFF and Q 4 , Q 5 , ON. As the input signal approaches the " bias " value Q 3 begins to turn ON and Q 4 , Q 5 , begin to turn OFF; diode 162 conducts to swing Q 4 bias towards -12 V and rapid cut-off. Q 3 may be a " Darlington pair ".
