Abstract
1,115,015. Automatic control of frequency response. RANK ORGANISATION Ltd. 28 Feb., 1967, No. 9012/66. Headings H3T and H4R. A circuit for adjusting the bandwidth of an audio signal comprises a capacitance and also switch means comprising a transistor associated with a signal source, and means for operating the switch means either in accordance with the signal level or independence upon the signal to noise ratio. The high-frequency response of a source comprising amplifying transistor 5 is varied by means of capacitor 8 in series with the collector to emitter path of transistor 9, shunting the collector load 6 of transistor 5, the control voltage being applied to the base of transistor 9. As shown, the lowfrequency response is varied simultaneously by means of capacitor 3 in series with the collector to emitter path of transistor 4, shunting resistor 7 in the emitter circuit of transistor 5, the control voltage being also applied to the base of transistor 4. In a further embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the response at low frequencies is varied by means of a capacitor in series in the signal path, shunted by the collector to emitter path of a transistor acting as a switch.
