Abstract
1,036,727. Transistor amplifier and reactance circuits. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. May 9, 1963 [May 9, 1962], No. 17902/62. Headings H3R and H3T. The gain of a transistor amplifying circuit is adjustable by variation of the base current of an auxiliary transistor 31 connected across the collector or emitter load of the amplifying circuit 30 and operated without any D.C. emittercollector voltage. For signals of small amplitude, the impedance of transistor 31 is linear and dependent on the magnitude of the base current. In the circuit shown, a transistor 30 forms part of a variable reactance circuit used to adjust the frequency of an oscillator 20. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the controlling transistor 31 and a blocking capacitor are connected across the emitter-collector path of a voltage amplifying transistor.
