Abstract

1,185,147. Anchoring devices. AVDEL Ltd. 12 May, 1967 [16 May, 1966], No. 21721/66. Heading F2H. An anchor device for fixing in a body of deformable material e.g. metal comprises a shank 11 and an enlarged head 12, the shank being either internally threaded as at 16 or externally threaded, and the head 12 having a frusto-conical surface 22, which is formed with annular grooves. The grooves may be wavy or sinuous in pattern or be interrupted or provided with notches to resist rotation of the device in the hole. In use, the device is aligned with the hole by a tool which is screwed on to the threaded portion, and then pulled axially into the hole so that the surrounding material flows into the grooves to retain the device. The tool is then removed, and a screw may be inserted as desired.
