Abstract
1,184,832. Vehicle supply systems. WIPAC DEVELOPMENT Ltd. 7 May, 1968 [9 March, 1967], No. 11204/67. Heading H2H. Indicating apparatus 14, e.g. on a motor cycle, is connected between an alternator 11 and a battery 13 to show when the alternator voltage is below the charging level. A potential divider 18, 19 is connected in parallel with a lamp 15 and a transistor 16 across the battery terminals, and the midpoint of the divider is connected to the base of the transistor so that the latter tends to be biased into a conducting state, illuminating the lamp 15. The output of the alternator 11 is also fed to the transistor base through a resistor 20, and when this output builds up to a predetermined level, the transistor is rendered non-conducting and the lamp 15 is extinguished. The battery is charged from the alternator 11 through a conventional full-wave rectifier bridge (not shown).
