Abstract
1,184,468. Aerials. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 30 Oct., 1967 [1 Nov., 1966], No. 49166/67. Heading H4A. The boom AB of a horizontally polarized logperiodic aerial which, for example, consists of an array of dipoles is supported at a point X adjacent the centre of gravity on a vertical rotatable shaft housed in a mast M, the said boom being also rotatable about a horizontal axis through the point X. The lower end A of the boom, at the apex of the aerial, is supported on a trolley which may be moved on a circular track R, so enabling the aerial to be directed to any bearing. The end A of the boom may be raised or lowered as indicated by the arrows E, whereby the elevation angle of the radiation from the aerial may be adjusted according to frequency, in order to obtain optimum performance. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) a boom and aerial assembly is supported by a gimbal joint on top of a tower, so that a trolley and a track are not required.
