Abstract

1,184,436. Valves. NEWMAN HENDER & CO. Ltd. 25 Sept., 1967 [6 Oct., 1966], No. 44639/66. Heading F2V. A plug valve has a body 1 with a bore 2, and at least one O-ring 9 located in a groove 5 in a surface of the bore, the O-ring having metal reinforcement 13, e.g. a continuous, coiled, or split ring, wholly embedded in it with at least one retainer member 19 extending from the reinforcement and engaging the body. The member 19 can extend from the O-ring in a radial or axial direction, and can be located in an open channel 11 or hole (shown chain-dotted), or clamped by a screw. The groove and O-ring can be disposed on a plug.
