Abstract
1,184,372. Hexahydro-1H-2,6-benzodiazonine derivatives. SANDOZ Ltd. 16 June, 1967 [30 June, 1966], No. 27849/67. Heading C2C. Novel compounds I (including salts and optically active isomers thereof) wherein R is C 1-4 alkyl and R<SP>1</SP> is H, Cl or C 1-4 alkoxy, are obtained by reducing compounds II compounds II are obtained by reacting comcompounds IV with a halide, R-halogen, and subsequently treating compounds III (may also be obtained by reacting compounds IV with the halide) so obtained with an alkali metal alcoholate; compounds IV (including salts and optically active isomers thereof) are obtained either by first reducing compounds VII (obtained by reacting compounds VIII with 3- hydrazinopropanol) and then treating resulting compounds V with a halogenating agent, or by first treating compounds VII with a chlorinating agent and then reducing compounds VI so obtained. Pharmaceutical preparations exhibiting CNS activity and having an appetite repressing effect contain as active ingredient compounds I; administration is orally or parenterally. Compounds IV are also therapeutically active.
