Abstract
Novel compounds I (including salts and optically active isomers thereof) wherein R is C 1-4 alkyl and R1 is H, Cl or C 1-4 alkoxy, are obtained by reducing compounds II compounds II are obtained by reacting comcompounds IV with a halide, R-halogen, and subsequently treating compounds III (may also be obtained by reacting compounds IV with the halide) so obtained with an alkali metal alcoholate compounds IV (including salts and optically active isomers thereof) are obtained either by first reducing compounds VII (obtained by reacting compounds VIII with 3- hydrazinopropanol) and then treating resulting compounds V with a halogenating agent, or by first treating compounds VII with a chlorinating agent and then reducing compounds VI so obtained. Pharmaceutical preparations exhibiting CNS activity and having an appetite repressing effect contain as active ingredient compounds I administration is orally or parenterally. Compounds IV are also therapeutically active.
