Abstract

1,184,149. Selective printing. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 8 Oct., 1968 [3 Nov., 1967], No. 47602/68. Heading B6F. A printing element carrying type faces capable of being deflected into printing contact with an impression paper, such as for example a disc 12, Fig. 2, is formed of an elastic material having a modulus of at least 8,000 psi at 100 cycles per second and a dynamic coefficient of friction against the impression paper of at least 1À0 at 600 feet per minute. Suitable elastic material comprises polyether polyurethane having a hardness factor of 90 on the Shore A durometer, and vulcanized with methylene bio-orthochloroaniline mixed at 212‹ F and cured for 8 hours at 158‹ F. Other suitable elastic materials comprise polyester-, polyamide-, and expoxypolyurethanes, polyacrylic rubber and chlorosulphonated-polyethylene. Such a printer element may be used in the selective printer described in Specification 1,169,239.
