The flow of cooling air through passages formed between the axially extending blade grooves 1 and the blade roots of a multi-stage gas turbine is regulated by plates 2, mounted in the blade grooves immediately upstream of the final row of blades, which throttle the air flow. The plates 2 may be provided with throttling slots 3 or circular throttling openings (3, Fig. 2, not shown).
