Abstract

1,183,339. Isolating valves. GROSSVENTILTECHNILE A.G. 31 May, 1967 [5 July, 1966], No. 30141/66. Heading F2V. A valve for isolating parts of a duct system has frame parts 3a, 3b fixed into a duct and joined by bridge pieces 7. A gap between the two frame parts has flexible seals, e.g. metal loops 9 mounted in Z-pieces 8, which rest against each other when the valve is open to seal the duct from atmosphere. A valve plate 1 which is driven upwards into the gap by motordriven screw-and-nut mechanisms moves between the seals 9 and separates one duct part from another. The seals 9 bear against the plate surfaces to seal the duct parts from one another and from atmosphere. The seals 9 may be provided along each edge of the frame parts or alternatively only along the top and bottom edges if the two frame parts are joined along their sides. In this latter case leaf springs on the plate bear against the frame sides to seal one duct part from another when the valve is closed. The seals 9 can be resilient pads of glasswool or silicon rubber, or leaf springs.
