781,383. Valves. BRYAN DONKIN CO., Ltd. Nov. 15, 1954 [April 17, 1954], No. 33066/54. Class 135. The two sides of a gate valve 1 are sealed by metal rings 2 located in grooves in seat bushings 3, the rings being backed by pre-compressed resilient rings 4 which also seal off the rear faces of rings 2 from the grooves. Rings 4 may comprise cup springs or plastic rings normally of circular cross-section but deformed by the pressure to fill the space behind rings 2.
