Abstract

1,182,825. Laminated barrier sheet. TH. GOLDSCHMIDT A.G. 4 May, 1967 [27 May, 19661, No. 20876/67. Heading B5N. A barrier or priming sheet comprises a duplex paper base impregnated with a hardenable synthetic resin, the paper base being formed of two layers originally having different absorption capacities for a solution of the resin whereby the layers contain different amounts of the resin. The sheet may be impregnated by passing it through an aqueous alcoholic resin solution, then between metering rollers before drying it by warm air. The sheet may be used as a barrier sheet when bonding a melamineformaldehyde impregnated paper sheet to a wood, e.g. chipboard, panel or as a priming sheet for such a panel prior to lacquering. In one example a urea-formaldehyde impregnated duplex paper sheet is bonded in a heated platen press to a three-ply chipboard panel.
