Abstract
917,605. Laminates. TERSONS Ltd. Sept. 27, 1961 [Nov. 1, 1960], No. 37492/60. Class 140. Laminates are prepared by laminating a first paper web impregnated with a partially condensed melamine resin to a second paper web loaded with an inorganic filler, for example lithopone, china clay or kieselguhr, under heat and pressure, such that liquidized resin is caused to penetrate partially through the thickness of the second paper web, and then laminating the laminate so produced to a glass fibre mat containing uncured polyester resin, with the second paper web in contact with the mat, under heat and pressure so that liquidized polyester resin is caused to penetrate through the unimpregnated thickness of the second paper web and so as to cure fully the melamine and polyester resins. The polyester resin may be in the form of a syrup.
