Abstract

1,182,443. Coumarin derivatives. SCHERING A.G. 14 Feb., 1967 [25 Feb., 1966], No. 7036/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C7] 3 - [71 - Coumaryloxy] - propanediol 1,2 is prepared by heating equal molar proportions in cyclohexanone, pentanone-2, toluene, benzene or dioxane of umbelliferone and a-glycerolchlorohydrin in the presence of an acid acceptor such as sodium carbonate or bicarbonate. The disodium salt of phosphoric acid-O-[7- coumarylester] is prepared by neutralizing with NaOH solution the residue after removal of the solvent from heating in cooled anhydrous pyridine an equimolar mixture of phosphorus oxychloride and 7-hydroxycoumarin. N - [6 - coumaryl] - N: N - dimethyl ammonium hydrobromide is prepared by prolonged heating at 100‹ C. in an autoclave of 1 mol of 6-aminocoumarin hydrobromide and 2 mols of methanol. The corresponding trimethyl salt is obtained by reacting the dimethylaminocoumarin with methyl bromide.
