Abstract
1415770 Flame retardant phosphate esters TENNECO CHEMICALS Inc 20 Aug 1973 [18 Sept 1972 (3)] 39197/73 Heading C2P [Also in Division C3] Compounds of Formula I where X and Y are C 2-4 haloalkyl having at least 2 Cl and/or Br atoms, Z is hydrogen, alkyl or haloalkyl, b is 0 to 5, m and n are each 0, 1 or 2 and m and n is 1 or 2, which compounds are used as flame retardants in resinous compositions, including novel compounds in which Z is hydrogen and b is 1, are prepared by reacting a suitable haloalkyl chlorophosphate with sodium phenate or a phenoxyalkanol or phenoxyhaloalkanol. The haloalkyl chlorophosphate starting materials may be prepared by reacting phosphorus oxychloride with a haloalkanol or an epihalohydrin.
