Abstract

1,182,362. Gear grinding. MAAG GEAR WHEEL & MACHINE CO. Ltd. 10 Jan., 1968 [18 Jan., 1967], No. 1544/68. Addition to 1,132,884. Heading B3K. Apparatus in a gear cutting machine for generating an involute comprises a table 206 for supporting a cutting tool 209, the table being pivotable about the axis 203 of a stationary workpiece 204, a tool carrier 208 movable rectilinearly on a guide 207 on the table 206, the guide 207 lying parallel to the straight generating line of the involute, and means for adjustably relating pivotal movement of the table 206 and rectilinear movement of the tool carrier 208 to ensure that the tool follows the desired involute; said means include a stationary drum 232 coaxial with the workpiece, interconnected by driving bands 231, 231<SP>1</SP> with a segmental drum 230 on the table 206, a further drum 229 on the table 206 being connected by bands 228, 228<SP>1</SP> with a slide 220 disposed to slide on the table 206 at an angle to the guide 207, the slide 220 carrying an angularly adjustable rocker arm 221 formed with a slideway 226<SP>1</SP> and slider 226 therein which is connected to and moves the tool carrier 208 in its rectilinear movement. Pivotal movement of the table 206 is caused by a motor 217 driving a gear 213 in mesh with a stationary gear segment 202 on the machine base 201, the rectilinear motion of the tool carrier being derived from the pivotal motion by the steel band and angularly adjustable slide mechanism described. The tool may be angularly adjusted by means of a pivoting slide 211, e.g. for machining helical teeth and adjusted at right-angles to the guide 207 by a straight slide 210. The workpiece 204 may be moved axially. As shown, the machine carries two similar tool tables for machining right and left hand tooth flanks simultaneously.
