Abstract

1,182,088. Valves. ARTHUR GUINNESS SON & CO. (DUBLIN) Ltd. 19 Sept., 1968 [24 Oct., 1967], No. 44586/68. Heading F2V A valve plug 4 which can be moved to alternative positions either to discharge fluid from a tank, or to admit a sterilizing fluid to the tank, has an interlock arrangement co-operating with a handle 5 which can be pivoted about an axis " X " and latched in either of the dotted positions (Fig. 1) so that the tank cannot be accidentally connected to the wrong fluid. Plug 4 has a " dog leg " bore 4a (not shown) which, with the handle in the position shown in Fig. 3, selectively interconnects outlet 12a with either the tank, through a bore (13, Fig. 3A, not shown) in boss 3, or a steam inlet 11a, whilst co-operating abutments 1a, 1b and 5f prevent a connection being made between boss 3 and inlet 11a until the handle is pivoted downwardly into its opposite position. The handle is latched in its extreme position by a spring plunger 5d which engages recesses 7a.
