Abstract

1,181,355. Dyeing acrylonitrile copolymers. JAPAN EXLAN CO. Ltd. 15 Feb., 1968 [15 Feb., 1967], No. 7577/68. Heading D1B. Cross-dyed or multi-coloured textile materials are obtained by dyeing a textile material prepared by mix-spinning, mixtwisting, mix-weaving or mix-knitting an acrylonitrile copolymer fibre containing acidic groups and an acrylonitrile copolymer fibre containing from 0.5-10% by weight based on the copolymer of units derived from a dialkylaminoalkylester of formula in which R<SP>1</SP> is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and each R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> is a methyl or ethyl group and n is 2, 3 or 4 with an anionic and/or cationic dye. The textile material may comprise a fibre which is a copolymer of acrylonitrile containing acidic groups and a fibre which is a copolymer containing a) at least 85% by weight acrylqnitrile units b) 0.5-10% by weight of dialkylaminoalkyl ester units derived from a monomer of the formula above and 5-14.5% by weight of units of one or more additional monoethylenically unsaturated monomers containing a terminal vinyl or vinylidene group. The materials may be dyed in baths which contain either a cationic dye or anionic dye separately or both together. Acid, basic and direct dyes are specified.
