1,181,269. Pipe joints. OSMA PLASTICS Ltd. 19 Aug., 1968 [30 Oct., 1967], No. 49126/67. Heading F2G. A socket for receiving and sealing with a pipe has a resilient plastics seal 3 lying in an annular groove 4 near the mouth of the socket, the end wall of this groove consisting of a snap-on closure 5 which serves to locate the seal axially. The seal may be a conventional "0"-ring, but, as shown, it has serrations 6, 7 on its inner and outer faces for improving its resilience. The rim 13 of the closure member snaps over rim 9 of the socket, and rim 11 exerts axial pressure on the seal. The socket may be of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene or rigid polyvinylchloride and the cap 5 of polypropylene.
