[Also in Division F4] A device for igniting and dispensing cigarettes comprises a hopper 3 having an open throat 30 through which cigarettes are fed one at a time on to a platform 4, the throat being defined by a sloping floor 22 and a pivotable gate 23; a baffle plate 25 effective to prevent more than one layer of cigarettes approaching the throat 30 at one time and being pivotable upwardly each dispensing cycle to jig and guide the cigarette pile in the hopper; and a pushbar 5 for delivering the cigarette to an ignition position. As described, the gate 23 is spring-urged to force excess cigarettes back into the hopper. A driving cam 34 causes push-bar 5 to displace a cigarette A over a lip 31, whereupon it rests inclinedly on pins 6, 6A with its end against an ignition element (7), Fig. 7 (not shown). Continued rotation of cam 34 to engage a bar 37 causes retraction of pins 6, 6A allowing the cigarette A to fall into a delivery tray 8, see also Fig. 6 (not shown). During forward movement of bar 5 its extension 32 engages a lever 26 to rotate baffle 25 upwardly against a cigarette C, thus preventing jamming. The device is controlled by cams 46, 47 which cause the driving motor to slow down during igniting, see Division F4, Fig. 1 (not shown), illustrates the outer casing, which is of metal and slidable on rails (11) into a car dashboard.
