Abstract

1,180,341. Spray carburetters. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Jan. 17, 1968 [Jan. 26, 1967], No. 2480/68. Heading F1B. The spindle 22 of a suction actuated air valve carries a cup-shaped rotor 36 arranged in a housing 30, the motion of the rotor being damped by a fluid such as silicone oil within the housing. The oil may completely fill the space around the rotor, or only partially fill said space. Projections 50, 48, may be provided on the outer surface of the rotor and inner surface of the housing to increase the damping at a predetermined opening of the air valves 18, 20, at which the projections come opposite one another.
