Abstract
1,179,779. Container traffic vehicle. HAZLEMERE MOTOR CO. (WALTHAM ABBEY) Ltd. 2 Oct., 1968 [26 Oct., 1967], No. 48741/67. Heading B8E. A detachable container body 6 has a downwardly open guide channel 14, a vertical cheek member 18, forwardly projecting forks 12 and a rear locating bracket 24. The body is detachably seourable to a vehicle chassis having crossmembers 5. To detach the body ground engaging struts 37 having wheels 45 have their spigots 39 introduced into a chassis underframe cross-member 28. After screw clamps 29 holding the container on the chassis are released a drive shaft 41, which is connected by dog clutches 42 36 to the strut on the other side of the vehicle, is turned to raise the container from the chassis to allow the vehicle to be driven away. To replace a body the container is supported in an elevated position on its struts 37 and the vehicle having an upstanding guide roller 26 is backed under it being guided by the cheek 18 and guide 14 until the roller is positioned in the rear bracket 24 and projections on the chassis enter the forks 12. The chassis cross-members 5 are now positioned over gaps in the guide 14 and on lowering the struts the container is located to a rest position on the cross-members by pins and holes 7, 8. Screw clamps 29 are then introduced into forked brackets 9 to secure the container in transport position.
