Abstract
1,179,633. Cathode ray display tubes. RANK ORGANIZATION Ltd. 29 March, 1968 [4 April, 1967], No. 15280/67. Heading H1D. [Also in Division H4] An image to be displayed is scanned by a plurality of photo-cells 10, Fig. 1 (not shown), arranged in a vertical line and the resulting electrical signals are fed to a matrix member of holes in a cathode ray tube 16, Fig. 3, of the type described in Specification 975,251, i.e. the output of each photo-cell is connected to the controlling wire of a hole in the matrix, so that a pattern of light spots is produced on the screen of the tube 16. A bundle of light fibres 18 connected to the screen of the cathode ray tube rearranges the pattern of light spots into a line of light spots corresponding to the line of photo-cells, and by means of a rotating mirror drum 19 the light spots at the ends of the fibres are reflected on to a screen in synchronism with the scanning of the line of photo-cells over the original image.
