Heading C2C. α-#-Unsaturated monocarboxylic acid esters are prepared by contacting an α-#-unsaturated monocarboxylic acid with an aliphatic monohydric alcohol having 1-8 C atoms in the vapour phase in the presence of a catalyst which is, in combination with oxygen, Ti, Ti and Sb, Ti and Si, or Ti, Sb and Si.
