Abstract

1,179,297. Diving unit. REED & MALLIK Ltd. 5 March, 1968 [18 April, 1967], No. 17741/67. Heading E1H. A portable diving unit comprises a tube 1 open at both ends and having a platform 3 at one end. In use the unit is held with the platform 3 above the water level and tube 1 extending below the water, so that a diver may descend through the tube into the water and avoid surface turbulance. The unit is held by a crane on a drilling rig. The unit suspended over the deck of the rig for the diver to transfer between the rig and unit.
