Abstract

1,179,039. Photographic composing apparatus. H. BERTHOLD MESSINGLINIENFABRIK UND SCHRIFTGIESSEREI A.G. 20 June, 1967, No. 28403/67. Heading B6W. Photographic composing apparatus comprises a rotatable mirror between the characters and the photographic plate for character width displacement. The Figure illustrates apparatus in which characters 3 are illuminated through a condenser lens by light source 1; the optical axes 2 passes through an objective 5 to the mirror 7 arranged to rotate about a spindle 6. The carrier 9 of the photographic layer may be situated in a cylindrical bearer, the axis of rotation of the mirror coinciding with the axis of the bearer. Rotation of mirror 7 causes displacement of optical axis 2 laterally across the carrier 9.
