Abstract
1,178,137. Surface active compositions; fuels; crude oil. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 31 May, 1967 [1 June, 1966], No. 25118/67. Headings C5D, C5E and C5G. A surface active composition comprises (a) a surface active oxyalkylation product and (b) a naphthol and/or a carboxylic acid ester of a naphthol. Ingredient (a) includes reaction products from 1 mol. of a fatty alcohol, fatty acid or fatty amine containing from 8 to 20 carbons or an alkyl phenol containing from 3 to 16 carbons in the alkyl group, with 5 to 20 mols. of an alkylene oxide. Emulsion breakers such as the copolymers of propylene oxide with ethylene oxide or reaction products of alkylene oxides, with alkylphenolformaldehyde resins may also be included in the compositions. The compositions may be in the form of solutions in aromatic solvents or they may be in solid form. The composition may be added to commercial fuel oils and crude oils.
