Abstract

1,177,816. Shuttleless looms; woven fabrics. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 20 Feb., 1967 [15 March, 1966], No. 7873/67. Headings D1E and D1K. A method of weaving comprises utilising the picking motion to unravel a knitted material and immediately using the unravelled yarn as the weft. The knitted material may be in the form of a tube and a gripper shuttle pulls off the yarn 15 and feeds it to the gripper shuttle 6. The knitted material 17 may be weighted by a ball and may be previously heat set to give a "crimped" yarn. A plurality of threads may be picked simultaneously by the same shuttle from a knitted thread reserve. These threads may have different characteristics such as different colours or different materials.
