A bulk container has a tubular body 2, Fig. 2, of flexible material with a collar 5 which has a reinforced and contracted edge 5<SP>1</SP>. When the container is to be lifted, a yoke 8, Fig. 6, is inserted inside the collar 5, in the collapsed condition shown, and is subsequently expanded by pushing outwards the hinged parts 8a, 8b, 8c, and securing together adjacent ends of portions 8b, 8c. In a second embodiment, Fig. 8, the yoke 18 comprises a closed loop which is inserted when a pair of connectors 17 in the collar portion 15 have been uncoupled to allow the collar to be expanded sufficiently to admit the yoke.
