Abstract

1,177,551. Caseless cartridges. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ARMY, SECRETARY OF. 18 May, 1967 [2 June, 1966], No. 23046/67. Heading F3A. Caseless small arms round comprising a hollow cylindrical moulded propellant 10, a projectile 14, a plug 16 of priming composition, and an obturating cup 22 having a base portion whose forward face abuts the rearward face of the plug. A primer mix 20 is contained in a cavity 18 in the plug. A firing pin 24 is secured in the obturating cup by a rubber or neoprene insert 26 and/or by a bonding adhesive. The obturating cup is made of metal, metal alloy or elastomeric material, e.g. neoprene.
