Abstract

1,176,933. Shafts ; toothed gearing; eccentrics. METERING PUMPS Ltd. 15 June 1967 [15 June, 1966], No. 26795/66. Headings F2K, F2Q and F2U. A pump drive unit comprises an input shaft 2 having complementary end portions 15 17 which may be connected to the input shafts of adjacent drive units. A shaft 3 is connected to input shaft 2 and carries an adjustable eccentric 4 surrounded by a follower 5 which is adapted to cause reciprocation of pump plungers 6, 7. The eccentricity of the eccentric 4 may be varied by rotation of a screw-threaded collar 12 which effects axial movement of a rod 8 to which an inner wedge portion of the eccentric is connected by a cross-pin 9. The setting of the eccentric is locked in position by a plunger 23 engaging the teeth of a gearwheel 22 attached to the screw-threaded collar 12. The gear-wheel 22 may be utilized as a driven member in a servo control circuit. A lubricating pump 25 is located at the lower end of shaft 3 and supplies lubricant through an axial bore in the rod 9 to spill over the bearing and other parts requiring lubrication.
